edith: 31 weeks old

age: thirty-one weeks old
stats: 12M clothes / almost in size 4 diapers
firsts: ice cream cone, potato, paper (oops), eggs (i know there are more but the days have just blurred together recently)
milestones: just barely in size 3 diapers, still working towards crawling
goings-on: edith is definitely happiest in her jumper and nothing evokes her rage more than daring to eat in front of her without offering her a taste. pretty certain it's just a matter of time until she's crawling and those top two teeth are still taunting us with limited sleep and baby mood swings. edith gets into everything in a way i'm pretty sure elden never did; even if i think something is out of reach she seems to manage to get it (hence her paper
hors d'oeuvre the other day) like a baby ninja. when she is happy she is so freaking happy and does this adorable exasperated happy gasp over and over again to make sure you know all is well. love this peanut something fierce!

best nailpolish ever

I was fortunate to get a free sample of CND Vinylux nail polish + weekly topcoat. It boasted weeks-longevity and I totally had my doubts. I painted my nails Sunday and this is how they look now:

They are chipping slightly but considering any other nail polish I've tried lasts usually no more than a day before considerable chipping occurs this is epic. It is certainly a pricier polish but considering how long it lasted I would definitely splurge on the occasional bottle! Just the fact that I won't have to remove this the day after I paint them is worth it--between work, the family and the house I don't have time to be messing around with this kind of thing. I highly recommend this product!

kitchen reno: the results

I have so much to catch you up on but the combination of new job + 2-hour round-trip commute + constant house showings have me pretty busy. The house has been listed for about 2 weeks and we have two people seriously considering it with new showings at least 3-4 times per week so we are hopeful we will get an offer soon. We have our first choice for a new town lined up with several properties to look at once we accept an offer. It is a busy but exciting time.

Here are some photos of the finished kitchen!

I think we did the entire thing (floors, wall tear out, cabinets, hardware, lights, appliances, sink, faucet, radiator covers and counters) for around $10k. We did a lot of work ourselves; the cabinets, appliances, hardware, sink, and faucet were purchased during an IKEA 20% off $4500 sale, and the counters we got through a family friend. We are so happy with the results! I hope to one day discuss the nitty gritty process and if you have specific questions about anything leave me a comment and I'll do my best to respond in a timely manner.

edith: 29 and 30 weeks old

age: twenty-nine and thirty weeks old
stats: 12M clothes
firsts: blueberries, chicken, aquarium trip, squash, mango, pretzel
milestones: continuing to attempt crawling
goings-on: with my new job beginning last monday i lost the days and therefore had to resort to grouping these past two weeks into one update. edith is definitely in the trenches of stranger anxiety and will usually cry if someone other than jon or i are holding her. she is mobile in terms of rolling and wiggling now, and if we put her on a soft surface she puts her butt in the air as she tries to figure out crawling. she still thinks food is the best thing in the universe, followed closely by being outside and her big bro. she is definitely cutting at least one top tooth and is still not sleeping perfectly at night but she is easily soothed and for that we are grateful.

edith: 28 weeks old

age: twenty-eight weeks old
stats: 12M clothes
firsts: steak, cold, sitting in the bath without her bath chair, swing
milestones: trying to figure out crawling
goings-on: edith is probably a week away from cutting her top teeth since she is back to not sleeping well at night. other than that she is still pretty content and loves touching new things. of particular interest is elden's toys which a certain little guy is less than thrilled about. edith is showing interest in mobility and is now making a concerted effort to crawl when she is on her belly. she still loves food and elden is the person who can make her laugh the most. she has mostly mastered sitting up unassisted with only the occasional spill and has a deep love for the outdoors. she is still so happy and chatty in the morning which makes her 6 am wake-up a lot easier to swallow.

home stretch

We are SO CLOSE on the kitchen and nearing the targeted list date of May 11. We are staying up late and working for hours but I see the light at the end of the tunnel and that's the only thing sustaining me...

If you wanna buy a house in Akron, let me know.

five on friday

Fat Lip: because I fell while holding him last night and his mouth broke his fall.

Coffee: drowning my sorrows because I feel absolutely horrible (see #1).

Jumping: all day, every day.

Cabinets: because we are finally starting to clear stuff out of our living room and put it back where it belongs! Kind of..

Weather screenshot: because I spy a high of 81 in the forecast...
