#fatherofthebridepart3

I have a full-time job, a part-time job, 3 kids, a husband who stays home with said crazy people all day and therefore is in dire need of adult interaction by the time I walk in the door from work, and I blog. As such, I don't have a whole lot of free time on my hands. Generally speaking, Jon is the dreamer of the two of us. He loves window shopping--an endeavor that I loathe--and talking big picture/the future. I am far more practical and rooted in reality (re: cynical) so I don't usually take on big, impossible things that I have little to no control over.

But then I realized that we live in an era of remakes and sequels and revivals of old series. And then I realized that my beloved childhood movie franchise--Father of the Bride--is over 20 years old with nary a sequel (threequel?) in sight. I watched Part 1 the day before my wedding. I watched Part 2 near the end of each of my three pregnancies. Steve Martin and Diane Keaton are mother trucking* national treasures.

This past election cycle and the current state of affairs in our country and world have been horribly depressing for me. I need to know there is some good left in humanity. To me, that good would be the revival of the Father of the Bride series with a long-overdue Part 3. It would have to be done right, obviously - we don't want such a beloved classic to become tarnished.

If we want any chance at this happening, we need to show there is a demand. We need to tweet at people:
Steve Martin: @SteveMartinToGo
Diane Keaton: @Diane_Keaton
B.D. Wong: @BD_WONG

(I also threw a few at Jimmy Fallon and Ellen Degeneres for good measure because it felt right.)

We need to abuse the hashtag #fatherofthebridepart3. I also created a Facebook page. I beg of you: like that page. Share that page. Blog about that page. Treat that page as your own child (or pet, or general favorite thing in the universe). It's our only hope.

*pardon my French, but it was added for emphasis
