Our schools were closed Thursday and Friday due to wind chills, and today they are closed thanks to an ill-timed ice storm. As such, Elden has had a very long weekend. That being said, for the first time in at least a week (if not longer) we are supposed to get above freezing so I am hoping this will all melt quickly!

This weekend was pretty mellow since it was so cold. The kids had dance for the first time this year on Saturday. I made this vegan creamy potato and leek soup (it was good, I'd make it again but put less lemon juice in it and use almond milk instead of coconut milk).
I also tried my hand at homemade bread for the first time ever using this recipe.
It looks delicious but I didn't like it at all. I don't know if it's because I used whole wheat flour instead of all purpose or if our house was too cold during the rising process, but it was just really dense. I had Jon pick me up all purpose flour at Aldi so I am going to try again with a new recipe - if you have any that don't require a bread maker and are pretty simple I'm all ears!

We also went to my parents' house to celebrate my mom's birthday. We got to meet my new nephew while we were there!
His name is Elroy and he is the sweetest and most gentle dog ever. My sister is preparing to move to Florida and the kids are equally upset that Aunt Jacqui and Elroy will be so far.

We watched Boss Baby yesterday. I thought it would be stupid but it was actually pretty cute. In one scene at the end, the baby is preparing to leave his family because his mission is accomplished. The older brother is visibly sad at this. Then I noticed Edith:
My sweet, empathetic girl.

Elden's loose tooth is really bothering him. He's barely been eating because it hurts when he chews. We let him have fruit for dinner last night and he still barely touched it, so fruit was my dessert.

I also used down time this weekend to earn money on Swagbucks and update my Facebook group. I think I'm going to start a blog series about my goal of paying for Disney via "extras" outside of my regular income.
